Best Lighting for
Home Office (2025)
Bad lighting causes eye strain, makes you look terrible on video calls, and drains your energy by mid-afternoon. Good lighting fixes all three — and costs less than you think.
Quick answer: Start with a monitor light bar (~$35) — it lights your desk without screen glare. Add a ring light (~$45) if you do video calls. Those two purchases cover 90% of home office lighting needs.
Monitor light bar
Desk task lighting with zero screen reflection. Best first purchase.
Ring light (10")
Front-facing call lighting. Eliminates the shadowy-face problem on Zoom.
LED desk lamp
General desk lighting. Look for adjustable colour temperature (2700K–6500K).
Bias light (LED strip)
Behind your monitor. Reduces eye strain by raising ambient glow. Optional but very effective.
