Every guide covers four products per category: a budget pick, a clear all-rounder, a specialty pick for a specific use case, and a premium option for buyers who want the top of the market. We don't list thirty products and call it a guide — we narrow to the four that matter at each price point.

Picks come from cross-referencing professional reviews (Wirecutter, RTINGS, Tom's Guide), the buying threads on Reddit and BuyItForLife, and our own testing where possible. Every product card lists two honest trade-offs — not just pros — so you know what you're signing up for. If you don't know which category you need yet, run the generator first; if you're already shopping a specific category, jump straight to its guide and use the comparison table at the bottom to settle the sub-category question.

Prices and picks are reviewed on a rolling basis, not set once and forgotten — when a manufacturer discontinues a model or a genuinely better option launches at the same price, we swap it and note the change in the page's byline. Categories rarely get picked in isolation — a monitor arm changes what desk depth you need, and a mechanical keyboard changes how much desk width is left for the mouse. Where that kind of dependency exists, the individual guide calls it out and links to the category it affects, so you're not left discovering the conflict after checkout.
